nye party guide.

happy new years eve!

hosting a shindig tonight? well, we have your guide to being the hostess with the mostess! our nye party guide is sure to make any party go off without a hitch!

nye party guide

1. champagne.champagne. champagne. need we say more? champagne {or champs as we call it} is a must have for any party and it makes everything a bit fancier. tip: don't want to deal with the potential of broken glass? not to fret, try plastic like the ones pictured here!

2. make a signature cocktail. this provides some variety and the chance for guests to try a new drink. tip: purchase a small chalkboard from michaels where you can write the contents of the drink on. people will love seeing how you made it and trying it at home themselves!

3. diy on the decor. its much cheaper than buying it in the store, and so easy! check out etsy and pinterest for inspiration. tip: love these kate spade coasters? purchase some cork ones at the drug store and spray paint them gold!

4. make a faux photo booth where guests can take pictures with props. these make for the best candid photos and everyone is sure to have had a few drinks by then {drunk photos are always better}. tip: the next day, email everyone their pictures and post to a shared photo album on facebook or shutterfly, for all guests to enjoy!

5. get a mani. your hands are the first thing people will notice, especially since you'll be serving drinks and food. plus who wouldn't want add some more glitz to their wardrobe that will last all week!? tip: do your own mani to save $. buy glitter in the tube from any craft store. use a taupe, light metallic, or black polish to cover your entire nail. use a watercolor brush to lightly dust the tips of your nails with glitter. finish with a top coat to seal in the sparkle. voila, your nails went from drab to glam in minutes!

last but not least, don't forget to sparkle, darling! your guests will have a great time as long as they are with you :)

happy new year!

black and gold.

hi dolls!

hope you all had a wonderful christmas with your friends and family {and got some much needed r&r}! wes and i spent a few days in our home town of gig harbor, wa visiting our families {it's nice we only have to travel to one place}. our favorite traditions are the maenhout family white elephant gift exchange on xmas eve, and watching "christmas vacation" at my mom's while in our pj's. all in all it was a great holiday and we are so blessed to have amazing friends, family and a great place to visit when we go home.

i can't believe christmas is already over! but this is the week of a new year and black and gold is my go-to nye color palette. this dress is flirty and and has pockets, too! i dressed it down with this fun graphic sweater for a more casual look. top it off with a red lip and some gold accessories and you're ready to party!

faux real.

in search of that perfect faux fur?!

welp lucky for you, you can call off the search party because we have exactly what you are looking for....

forever 21 has an awesome selection of faux furs and this one was so warm and cozy and was the perfect outer layer for the snowy day! my favorite part is that it's a tad longer than a normal length coat which is what i am always looking for.

paired with a plain white tee and some deep red corduroy flare pants { hello! Pantone 2015 color of the year! duh } and you are ready to go!

{ jacket // tee // cords - bcbg old }

hope everyone had an amazing christmas spent with the ones you love!

love.love.love.

you know when you buy something and you just can't take it off? yeah, that's how i feel about this sweater. and lucky for all of you, it's currently on sale! bonus: it doubles as a light jacket, has pockets and a hood!

and just as i love graphic tees, i can't even begin to tell you how much i am into distressed jeans right now. i just can't get enough. even in the snow.

girls night.

it's the holidays, so what better time to dress up and go out with your girlfriends than during christmas?!

we hosted a little get together on friday to sip on champs, eat some apps {ya know the important stuff} have a white elephant gift exchange, and catch up with our ladies during this busy time of year.

we then headed to the edgewater hotel on the waterfront for a few more cocktails. this is one of the best places to go for drinks, especially during this time of year. the cozy fire place, waterfront view and live music was the perfect ending to a great night with our ladies.

{apparently only half of us got the "be silly" memo, haha}
{cranberry goat cheese // sea salt pita crackers // salami}
{champs on ice // red wine}

holiday gift guide: part three.

it's the final post in our holiday gift giving series and this time it's all about the men. just like us ladies, men can be challenging to shop for. but for a totally different reason...they don't tell us what they want! guys are simple creatures. let's be honest, they would be happy with a bag of skittles and a pair of socks {maybe that's just wes}. but either way, we have some gift ideas that are sure to wow any dude in your life.

happy shopping...have a great weekend!

holiday gift guide part two.

today is part two of our gift giving series! and because us girls are usually the hardest to shop for, we have created another gift guide for all of the fav's on your list.

whether you are buying for your mom, sister or bestie these gifts are geared towards them!

what's even better is that if you are going to a holiday party this season some of these double up as great hostess gifts as well. who wouldn't love an awesome smelling candle {which by the way when the candle burns out you can re use the jar to hold makeup brushes or pens etc.}, an elephant match holder or a champagne tote!

6. 2015 wall calender - yes ma'am paper + goods {comes with a vintage hanger too!}

most importantly make sure to be thoughtful - there is nothing worse than throwing a gift together at the last minute and putting zero effort into it. {trust us they will know when you put some thought into a gift}

later this week we will be featuring a gift guide for all the boys on your list, so stay tuned!

holiday gift guide: part one.

this week, we are all about gifts. christmas is next week...{sorry for the extra pressure} and if you're anything like us, you're last minute shoppers. but not to fear, we have a gift giving guide for everyone on your list, all week long!

we are kicking off our holiday gift guide with some wise words for you dudes out there. here are some tips for shopping for all the ladies in your life.
  • think practical: a starbucks gift card, new tech accessories, a coat, etc. are all things we hate to buy for ourselves, hence making perfect gifts. just be careful not to be too practical {nobody wants a toaster for christmas}.
  • pay attention: girls typically drop hints as to what they want {like their favorite perfume, or designer} but we all know that men have selective hearing, so take some time this holiday season to listen extra close.
  • get creative: instead of a material gift, plan a trip or date night for just the two of you. think of some place that you went on a first date, or a city you have never been to and check living social and groupon as they are bound to have a fun and exciting trip for a steal of a deal.
last but not least, have fun! the holidays are not meant to be stressful. and trust us, with a little effort and thought, she will love anything you get her if it comes from you!
