how to: host a great brunch.

there is nothing better than getting together with your girlfriends for a sunday brunch. but what's even better is when you can host one yourself! now that it's a bit warmer out, it's so much more fun to have the girls over to your place to sip mimosas and enjoy the outdoors.

here are a few tips to hosting a great brunch!

one. decorate your patio/deck just as you would inside! indoor/outdoor rugs are the perfect way to spruce up your outdoor space. here's a tip: shop right before the 4th of july and you are bound to find a sale! this rug and accent furniture were 50% off at target just a couple weeks ago!

two. have a mimosa bar where girls can choose a drink of their choice to mix with their champs! currently loving this watermelon cucumber cooler from trader joe's! also, you can find these clear beverage containers from ikea for less than $5 each! they are great for juice, water or even to use as a vase.

three. prepare the meal the night before so you are stress free in the morning. for the side, a fruit salad is not only healthy but a great side to pretty much any dish. tip: mint is not only a great garnish but tastes great, too!

four. macaroons are always a good idea. not to mention they are just so pretty. and who doesn't want to end a meal with a little something sweet!?

shift dress.

so this past week i was on vacation at my family's lake house in paso robles {central coast - california} and it was beyond amazing. we had the best time playing on the boat, relaxing, wine tasting {which was obviously a highlight} and so much more.

but before we left i did what any girl does before she goes on vacation...i did some last minute shopping and found this gem of a dress!

this outfit was perfect for our day of wine tasting. it was about a hundred degrees while we were there so the lightweight fabric and flowyness was ideal. i'm also loving this neckline. i don't have any dresses like that and i have to say it's my new favorite detail!

as for the amazing hat...panama style hats are my go to style and it's under fifteen bucks!

i also have a confession to make...i have literally worn this dress three different times since i bought it last week. basically im obsessed.

printed shorts.

i am loving the printed shorts look, especially because they come with an elastic waist band and super light weight material which is great for hot summer days! i came across this amazing little boutique while in barcelona called oysho {blog post on that trip coming soon!} and i literally could have bought everything in there! i bought a dress with the exact same pattern as these shorts too, since i just loved this pattern way too much.

the amalfi coast: positano

our last stop in italy was positano. i had seen pictures of cliff sides with houses stacked on top of each other on the mountain side, but until you see it in person, you can't really appreciate the insane beauty.

we ferried from capri to positano and the minute we arrived at the base of town i was in love. right when you walk off there is a public beach and tons of restaurants along the way where you can sit and have a glass of wine and stare out into the sea...but the best part is when you get up top.

 we of course had no idea how to get to our hotel once we arrived so we asked for some help and were surprised to hear our hotel was about a 15 minute walk straight up hill {including at least 90 stairs}. at least we were getting our exercise after all that pasta and pizza we had been eating! when we finally arrived, the hotel concierge walked us to our room and opened up the balcony doors and i was floored! our terrace was HUGE and we had the most beautiful view!

{view from our balcony}

{our breakfast every morning!}

we spent most of our time eating breakfast on the terrace {they serve complimentary breakfast every morning} and watching the sunset at night. during the day, we went to the beach, took a bus to another neighboring town, and went on a little boat to this restaurant on the shore called "da adolfo" where we met some aussie's also on their honeymoon and drank way too much wine and lemon cello. and my absolute favorite part was dinner at "la taglitata", a four course dining experience, where there is no menu and everything is cooked by 'mama' downstairs in the kitchen. the house wine is also included in the bill and the entire experience was only 35 euros per person...unheard of! it had the most insane view too, since we were sitting about 2k feet above sea level!

{this was after just the second course, we had two more coming!}

{the view from la taggliata}

{the view as we pulled up to port}

{gorgeous rainbow and sunset!}
{the most beautiful sunset i had ever seen}

{music on the rocks...a club in a cave! a must go if you are ever in positano}

it was the perfect ending to our travels on the amalfi coast. if you ever get the chance to go, jump on it! the people were so gracious and kind, the food was amazing and the scenery is spectacular!

stay tuned for our final leg of the!
