the amalfi coast: sorrento.

after 24 hours in paris, we hopped on another plane and headed to naples, italy. naples is the closest airport to the amalfi coast and about an hour long drive to the nearest coastal town of sorrento which was our first stop in italy. sorrento is more of a city feel with a large piazza in the center bustling with cafes, bars and shops. it's also only a quick 40 minute train ride to pompeii where you can tour the ancient ruins where mount vesuvius erupted thousands of years ago. since we did not make it to rome, we really wanted to immerse ourselves in the culture and relive the experience of living during those times. we were only in sorrento less than 48 hours, but we enjoyed some really great pizza, wine and loved walking the streets at night weaving in and out of the small alley's and listening to live music.

{walking through the quaint little alley's and of course stopping to take pictures at every chance i got}

{apparently their umbrellas are HUGE}

{this is what they serve you whenever you order a drink}

{much needed drinks and food after walking around pompeii for 4 hours!}

{bolognese}
{amazing pepperoni pizza with pepper flakes of course}

{this tank was my go to piece the entire trip-and its currently on sale!}

we ended the trip to sorrento with some great espresso in the piazza and an "american breakfast"-classic.

stay tuned for my next post with all the details on our second stop to capri {my favorite spot on the amalfi coast!}

have a great weekend!
