as i mentioned in last week's post, nicole's husband nate had to work on thanksgiving so she spent the day with us at my mom's in gig harbor. we stayed in comfies all day long and cooked for hours. it was such a beautiful day out so my mom and i went on a long 2 hour walk downtown to help digest all the yummy food throughout the day. dinner was great and consisted of: turkey {duh}, broccoli and cauliflower cheesy casserole, garlic mashed potatoes, maple brussel sprouts with craisans and gorgonzola, {and attempted to make gluten free cheddar biscuits but where a total bust-if you know of a good one, let me know}. for desert, vegan chocolate pumpkin pie and mini apple bourbon cakes with vanilla ice cream...YUM.
on friday after work wes and i headed to packwood, wa where his uncle has a cabin. for the past 4 years we have gone there and watched the apple cup {univ of washington vs wash state} battle it out since we are a family divided by two teams, and then spend the weekend playing games, drinking and laughing. on the last day we drive up into the mountains, bundle up in the snow and cut down a christmas tree! it's such a fun tradition and one i can't wait to pass onto our kids someday.
